每年重陽節前，各圍村都忙於煮盆菜。我住在圍村超過十年，吃最多是上水盆菜，也吃過錦田元朗的盆菜，大致上差不多。是年的大圍盆菜宴，用鹽水鴨、粉絲和蝦做的盆菜，跟北區人以豬肉為主的盆菜不同。

這次美國之行早在一年前已經籌備，日蝕時間為八月尾，機位必然非常緊張。除了日蝕，其餘在美的時間則在逛大都會博物館，本來希望看完整個博物館，但極其量也只是看了一半。
