酒店選擇了在國立競技場對面新開張的三井花園酒店，酒店位處明治神宮外苑及新宿御苑中間，位置上十分便利於看紅葉與銀杏，只是今年的明治神宮外苑的銀杏樹顯得有點稀疏。

這次美國之行早在一年前已經籌備，日蝕時間為八月尾，機位必然非常緊張。除了日蝕，其餘在美的時間則在逛大都會博物館，本來希望看完整個博物館，但極其量也只是看了一半。
