"Who We Are"

One of the fastest growing populations in New Jersey is the Asian community. The number of Asians in the state has climbed 63.4% over the last decade (Chart1). Today, Asians represent 5.6% of the total population of New Jersey. In some areas, such as Middlesex County, every tenth resident is of Asian ancestry (Chart2).

But despite the community's significant size, Asians are underrepresented in the social and political activities of the community at large. Statistics show that Asians continue to have the lowest voter turnout during elections (Chart3). And sadly, this trend is also observed by a lack of involvement in their hometowns - where an Asian face is a rarity in many public facilities, such as libraries.
