"Who We Are"

For decades, New Jersey libraries have suffered from insufficient funding from the state. Librarians and library & information science scholars argue that this historically inadequate funding makes it difficult for New Jersey libraries to meet the academic and technological needs of the citizenry. Most affected are the many poor Asians, who are most in need of the educational opportunities offered by libraries.

But libraries in and around New Jersey's Asian population centers are failing to meet the diverse needs of this group. For the most part, they offer only limited Asian collections and cultural-specific services. As a result, these facilities do not attract many Asians.
